Little Tamers, Part 1

The hand learns first

status TBD

Part one is about the mouse. It runs to 40 lessons across half a school year, two a week: the child watches a comic strip in which a character performs an action correctly, repeats it on the page in pencil, and consolidates it in the Mouse Tamer trainer. By the end, clicking, double-clicking, dragging and hovering no longer take any attention — the hand does them by itself.

The book has two parts. The child's part is 40 spreads without a single letter: what to do is carried by the picture and by a set of symbols the child learns in the first few lessons. The adult's part covers each lesson — its aim, what to say, what to watch for, the usual difficulties, and what to do when there is no computer to hand. A child spends eight minutes a week at a screen; the rest of the lesson is on paper.

Sequence

Little Tamers · مروّضون صغار

Little Tamers is pre-school preparation in two parts, each covering half of the school year. In the first, a child masters the mouse; in the second, the keyboard. No reading is needed: an adult leads the lesson while the child follows a comic strip, works directly on the page, and plays one short level in the trainer.
